Master's Student, Hispanic Linguistics, Teaching Assistant of Spanish

As a Texas native, the Spanish language has been an integral part of my ongoing education and life experiences. My love and admiration for the Spanish language has been evident since my early childhood in Montessori school, where it was nicely woven into all aspects of our academic curriculum and extracurricular activities. Although I am continuing to explore pathways for utilizing my Spanish language education and skills, I am particularly interested in research in the use of technology in language acquisition and translation/interpretation, such as how it could be utilized in underserved communities to improve health care access/equity, or to enhance the educational/cultural experience. I enjoy language learning apps such as Duolingo, and how they gamify language learning. I listen to and enjoy many genres of music, and I am extremely fond of classical music and listening to music in other languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean.

Research Interests:

Hispanic Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Language Acquisition Technology, Sociolinguistics, Bilingual Health Communication

Olivia recieved her Bachelors degreee in Spanish from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, and graduated in the spring of 2021.
