Theories that have special relevance for understanding French literature, linguistics, and cultural studies. Readings, discussions, and assignments in French. Readings by Bal, Barthes, Baudrillard, Benveniste, Bourdieu, Genette, Irigaray, Jakobson, Kristeva, L‚vi-Strauss, Riffaterre. Emphasis on structuralism, poststructuralism, cultural studies, narratology, and feminism. Given in French.
