Lecturer of Italian

Giampaolo Molisina earned his Ph.D. in Italian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining UGA, he taught Italian language, literature, and cinema at Hamilton College, UW-Madison, and the Universidad del Pacífico. His research focuses on post-war Italian cinema and literature, with a particular emphasis on the role of poetry in cinematic expression. His interests also include language pedagogy, comparative literature, visual and performance studies, the history of avant-garde and neo-avant-garde movements, ecocriticism, food studies, and the intersections of Italian and Latin American cultures. Before relocating to the U.S., he spent over a decade in Peru, where he served as the director of Italian language courses at the Italian Cultural Institute of Lima. He is deeply committed to inclusive, experiential teaching and regularly incorporates creative projects, community partnerships, and cultural events into his courses to engage students in and beyond the classroom.
