A.B. Psychology with a minor in Spanish, 2016. Graduate of Duke University’s School of Law, May 2022 with a J.D. and Certificate of Public Interest and Public Service. Currently an Associate Attorney at Alston & Bird.

Studying language, literature, and culture at UGA prepared me to enter the job field with an open mind and be able to use my Spanish-speaking skills to be able to communicate with and better understand communities different than my own. I have been able to volunteer with different Spanish-speaking people and even do pro bono legal work for asylum seekers from various countries.

While I did not participate in a study abroad program, I lived in Valencia, Spain for the year before I began UGA. Getting to travel around Europe, try new foods, and immerse myself in the Spanish culture is something I will never forget. Living in Valencia allowed me to easily visit Italy, Portugal, and France. Having the opportunity to travel and improve my Spanish are two things I am extremely grateful for.

I encourage students at UGA today to study abroad if you are able. Living in another country was such an amazing experience and really shaped who I am and how I view the world. I also encourage students to take classes that energize them and pursue a career path that excites them. Life is short, so doing something that you love – and not just what others expect you to do – is critical.
