Image: The Department of Romance Languages congratulates recent graduate Emily Haden on her acceptance to the North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP)! From October through May, Emily will work as an English Language Assistant alongside a teacher at a primary school in Sevilla, Spain. Her responsibilities will include helping teach English as well as serving as a cultural ambassador. An immersive, hands-on program, NALCAP emphasizes the importance of creating cultural ties between Spain and the United States. NALCAP North American Language and Culture Assistants Program placements are offered all across Spain, in practically every city and town in the country, running from October 1st to May 31st with a monthly stipend of 800 to 1000 Euros depending on the assigned region and medical insurance from either the national government or the regional governments of Spain. Hours of assistant teaching range from 12 to 16 hours per week. Applications for the 2026-2027 year are open until June 30.
