Image: The Portuguese program has had an exciting year filled with student success, faculty recognition, and vibrant cultural events! Dr. Cecília Rodrigues has been awarded the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs 2025 Excellence in Language Education award. Undergraduate student, Madison Dixon, earned a Boren Scholarship as a Portuguese Flagship student and, graduate student, Elisa Braga, published an article in June showcasing her research. Both are proof of the incredible talent among our Portuguese program students. An Afternoon of Art invited participants to explore Portuguese poetry through painting, inspired by the works of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen. The evening celebrated creativity and cross-cultural exchange. This year, the Portuguese program welcomed two Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants – Mariana and Kessia – who bring authentic cultural perspectives to our classrooms.
