Elisa Braga has a B.A. and a Teaching Licensure in English from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil, as well as a M.A. in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia, with a focus on comparing the literature of the Americas. They are currently a PhD Student at the University of Georgia.

Their research interests include coming of age literature and the Bildungsroman, comparative humanities, gender and sexuality studies, and literature by Latino writers and immigrants. They wish to explore the ways in which identity is shaped, developed and portrayed, especially in marginalized communities.

Prior to enrolling at UGA, Elisa has had experience teaching from ages 5 to 60, in the role of tutor and ESL teacher. They have also taught language classes at UFMG, besides working on developing materials and projects for the classroom. They enjoy teaching in a manner that is student-centered, dynamic and engaging. Currently, they are a Teaching Assistant of Portuguese and Spanish in the Romance Languages Department.
