Master's Student, Brazilian Literature
Teaching Assistant of Portuguese

Elisa Braga has a B.A. and a Teaching Licensure in English from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil. They are currently a Master's Student at the University of Georgia, with a focus on Brazilian literature.

Their research interests include coming of age literature, Young Adult literature, gender and sexuality studies, and literature by Latino writers and immigrants. They wish to explore the ways in which identity is shaped, developed and portrayed, especially in marginalized communities.

Prior to enrolling at UGA, Elisa has had experience teaching from ages 5 to 60, in the role of tutor and ESL teacher. They have also taught language classes at UFMG, besides working on developing materials and projects for the classroom. They enjoy teaching in a manner that is student-centered, dynamic and engaging. Currently, they are a Teaching Assistant of Portuguese in the Romance Languages Department.

Join us for an Afternoon of Art in Portuguese and in English from 3:30 to 5:00. Come make your own painting inspired by Jarid Arraes's cordel "Corpo escuro". This workshop is led by our very own Romance Languages students Elisa Braga, Vera Bulla & Victória Lane Silva.
