SLAVE NARRATIVES ACROSS THE ATLANTIC

Lecture by Antonele Luciano (in English)

This lecture will present an overview of the narratives of enslaved people in Brazil and the United States addressing specifically the letters of Esperança Garcia (1770) and Anne Davies (1861). These documents show the writing of Black women, who suffered the most during slavery, as an instrument of resistance and memory of Black people across the Atlantic.
