Please join the Pi Delta Phi National French Honor Society for a panel discussion with French-major alumni from UGA and other universities. Panelists will discuss how the study of French prepared them for their current career paths and how they use French in those careers. Featured guests will include Kelsey Dabrowski, international student advisor and Fulbright liaison at Georgia State University, Grace Craft, second-year student at UGA Law, and Heloise Ahoure and Erika Denman of IRC Atlanta.

Jorge García-Granados, Lecturer of Spanish, has been awarded the American Philosophical Society's Franklin Research Grant for his project "Andean Baroque on Stage." He will conduct primary-source research on Quechua-language theater of the colonial era at the British Library in London this summer.

María González-Ferrer, a Ph.D. candidate in Hispanic Linguistics at UGA, has been awarded the prestigious Excellence in Teaching Award for graduate students. Graduating this May, María is one of up to five recipients of this annual honor, jointly presented by the Graduate School, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the UGA Teaching Academy. She was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the university’s instructional mission while pursuing a rigorous graduate program.

Dr. Samantha Gillen, Lecturer of Italian, is a recipient of a 2025 Sandy Beaver Excellence in Teaching Award. The Sandy Beaver awards annually honor outstanding faculty in the Franklin College who have shown a sustained commitment to high-quality instruction.  Since joining the Romance Languages faculty in 2022, Samantha has designed and taught the new, online asynchronous course ITAL 2500e, participated in the pilot Experiential Learning Connect Abroad programs (Italy 2024 and Greece 2025), and taught Italian language at the UGA Cortona campus in Summer 2024.
