Doctoral student in Hispanic Linguistics awarded research grant María González-Ferrer has been selected as a recipient of a 2024 Sigma Delta Pi (SDP) Graduate Research Grant Award among a very competitive pool of applicants nationwide. French Major Caitlin Lyons Named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year French major Caitlin Lyons has been named Scholar-Athlete of the year by the Southeastern Conference. An accomplished equestrian, Lyons graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology in 2023 and will receive her Bachelor of Arts in French next month. A three-time recipient of UGA Presidential Scholar Honors, she has been named to the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll every semester for four years. Años de Soledad: Latin American Music Ensemble On April 5th at 7.30 p.m. in Ramsey Hall in the PAC the Latin American Music ensemble, organized by Jean Kidula (Music Dept.), is featuring Argentine music. It is free and will have a reception after the concert. The UGA Latin American Music Ensemble explores the rich musical styles of Argentina with songs of longing for a connection that may be lost or far away. Rachel Gabara Named Brinning Professor Professor Rachel Gabara has been named the first Nancy Gillespie Brinning Professor in French. The Department of Romance Languages is delighted to congratulate Professor Gabara and to celebrate Mrs. Brinning's legacy. Brinning was a French major who graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1948 and enjoyed a highly distinguished, path-breaking career at Piedmont Natural Gas Company in Charlotte, North Carolina. España en Corto Film Festival Please plan to join us for the 11th annual España en Corto Spanish Short Film Festival Tuesday, March 26th and Wednesday, March 27th at the Georgia Museum of Art.
